Life Moves On and Thailand Calls

April 2017

For many years, the Cancer de Mama Clinic has been very capably supervised by Susan Sloan, of Rocky Mountain House in Alberta, Canada. Susan and her husband Ken (who also put in countless hours of work for the Clinic), have decided that it’s time for a change. Susan recently sent us this note:

Hello folks,

The sun in shining, the snow has melted and the trees are budding out, spring is here. We wanted to let you know that we have done a lot of soul searching this winter and have come to realize that our travelling years seem to be in a hurry, there are places in this world we want to see, things we need to experience and people we look forward to meeting.

We have decided that we will not be coming back to La Penita next year, we are off to Thailand for 4 months to see what we can see.

We will miss our friends dearly but I am sure we will keep in touch because our friendship with you means a great deal to us. Our plans have not progressed past next year, so we don’t know where our next stop will be!

Good luck with future clinics and thank you for all your hard work in the past. We had 11 good winters in La Penita, time to move on now. Please keep in touch and we will keep you posted on our plans!

The volunteers of the Cancer de Mama Clinic have a very deep gratitude for Susan. The amount of work she did, both visible and invisible, was an indication of her incredible commitment to the ladies of Mexico who visit the Clinic each year. Susan set a high standard for all our volunteers to follow and she will be sorely missed. We wish she and Ken a great journey through Thailand and we trust they will both show and encounter goodwill all along the way!
