Registration
Each woman who visits the Clinic is registered when she arrives. Volunteers with fluent Spanish are appreciated here.
Guias
The guias guide our Mexican ladies from fittings — introducing the ladies to the next department.
Fitters and Runners
The Fitters and Runners work ‘hands-on’ with the ladies, making sure that each one is correctly fitted with a breast prosthetic and bra.
Storeroom and Bra Sorting
This department handles the sorting and sizing of all the Clinic donations. During the Clinic hours, these volunteers distribute the prosthetics and bras to the Runners.
Translators/Orientation
The translators are responsible for communication between the clinic volunteers and our Mexican ladies.
La Tiangus
This is a little ‘store”, where the ladies can shop at extremely low prices, choosing from a wide assortment of clothes, lingerie, costume jewelry and other items which have been donated to the Cancer de Mama Clinic.
Sewing Group
Our Sewers are responsible to repair/remake lymphedema sleeves, scarves and bras. They also create comfort cushions and hats/headgear.
Kitchen Duties
A day at the Clinic can be a long one, with many hours spent waiting. Each lady attending while they wait for their turn in the fitting room is provided with a healthy meal prepared by volunteers and delivered to the clinic to be served by kitchen volunteers.
Hat Shack
The Hat Shack volunteers look after distributing hats, scarves and jewelry to the Clinic ladies.
Tit Bits
Tit Bits are used in place of a prosthetic when a lightweight, cooler product is needed. Volunteers create Tit Bits, hand knitted ‘breasts’ prior to the clinic which are then stuffed with a soft filling during the clinic and provided to the runners for fitting their clients.
Wigs, Hair and Makeup
In this department, wigs are provided to ladies who’ve lost their hair during chemotherapy and hair styling is provided. Ladies also receive a lovely new makeup application.
