Executive Members


Cheryl Sholan, Chair
Cheryl took on the role of Chair of the CdeMC in 2018. Since her welcome arrival, she has shown her strong commitment to the CdeMC, organizing and facilitating our Executive meetings and following up to ensure that all action items are completed! Throughout the year, she provides ongoing support to our Executive as well as to many volunteers. Cheryl also works closely with our Communications Coordinator and other Department Heads in order to well represent the organization.

 


Gerri Dryburgh,
Clinic Supervisor
Gerri manages the running of our annual Clinic, working closely with a team of dedicated Department Coordinator - Registration, Greeters, Fitters and Runners, Translators, Lymphedema Support Team, Sewers, Wigs and Makeup, Scarf and Hat Shack, Storeroom, Tit Bits/Bean-a-Boobs, Kitchen and Tienda. As well, she also oversees the placement of all our volunteers.

 

Maruca Dinsmore, Community Outreach
Maruca is the primary liaison between CdeMC and the ladies we help. For months in advance, she communicates our Clinic information to communities throughout the state of Nayarit and beyond. She receives requests from groups, hospitals and individuals who wish to attend the Clinic and then schedules the buses which transports the ladies to the Clinic. Maruca is our primary spokesperson and translator during the Clinic days. Throughout the year, she is busy coordinating the production of Been-a-Boobs by local Mexican women in La Penita as well as running a host of other errands for the Clinic She is our rock!

 

Liana Gallant, Communications
Liana is in charge of communications for the CdeMC. In this role, she responds to emails, maintains our website and Facebook page and processes online donations.

 

 

Heather Erickson, Tienda
Heather manages our Tienda (outdoor market) throughout our Clinic days. Originally created as a free store, due to its popularity and growth, this outreach now functions a fundraiser for the Clinic. Heather also assists with Facebook administration.

 

 

Holly Trujillo, Translation
Holly manages the Translators Team and animates small group orientation in Spanish for ladies as they arrive at the Clinic. She is also in charge of follow up responses to individuals and businesses who make donations or provide transportation of donations for the Clinic’

 

 

Carolyn Maze, Lymphedema Team
Carolyn trains and manages specialized volunteers for our Lymphedema Support Team. She develops and translates information for patients on bandaging, exercises, care of garments etc. as well as maintaining a data system for each lady to monitor her condition. Carolyn ensures the Clinic has ample supplies for all who require lymphedema treatment by networking throughout the rest of the year with lymphedema suppliers in Canada, in order to access donations and to purchase supplies. She follows-up with donors, providing photos to demonstrate the impact that the CdeMC is having in the lives of Mexican breast cancer survivors who suffer with lymphedema. Throughout the year, Carolyn also organizes community fundraisers and accesses additional donations through private sponsors.

Paty Schmidt, Treasurer
Paty has general financial oversight for the CdeMC and is accountable to the Executive. She verifies, records and reimburse expense claims, and receives and maintains records for in-kind donations, cash sales and cash donations. Her responsibilities include financial record keeping and managing our Canadian bank account. Paty also leads our discussions in projecting expenses and earnings for the next fiscal year.

Tere Maldonado, Community Resource
Tere is a strong resource for CdeMC within the communities of Guayabitos and La Penita. She is a successful business woman and generously shares her own resources with the Clinic, as well as using her many contacts to provide extra community to support to CdeMC. Since she lives full-time in La Penita, Tere is well-placed to assist in our Survivor Program.

Carol Thacker, Past Chair
As Past Chair, Carole continues to be a good resource for the current Executive, with many well-established contacts in the wider communities of Guayabitos and La Penita.She also works with our Kitchen volunteers, coordinating the lunch the we provide to our Mexican ladies at the Clinic.
